Are you struggling to draw realistic looking flowers? This course focuses on teaching you to capture important details, like petals or even pollen, that makes your flower illustration look like its actual real-life counterpart.
Drawing a shape that resembles a flower is super simple. We’ve all been doing it since kindergarten and it’s one of the most common drawing motifs.
Drawing a realistic flower, however, is something completely different. As beautiful as they are, they’re also extremely complex living things, full of various colour shades and elusive details that can make or break your artwork.
“I thought I knew how to draw flowers … then I took Freya’s class and found myself re-learning the basics” - Jane, Wyoming
Flowers, leaves, and other botanical motifs are naturally beautiful and often catch people’s attention. It’s not surprising that you see botanical designs everywhere you look. Whether it's fashion, textiles, interior design, restaurants, packaging design, hip cafes or even social media content, flowers can make every design shine.
A gorgeously painted flower can be a stand-alone work of art or a filler for a main motif’s background. They are as versatile as they are wonderful to look at and they’re often included in every field of graphic design.
Considering its popularity, you should really add botanical art to your portfolio as it can get you some amazing clients. Believe me, I’ve had tons of requests for floral illustrations over the course of my career. And to be honest, those were some of my favourite freelance jobs. 👇
As mentioned above, in my fifteen years of working as a professional illustrator, I’ve done quite a few botanical designs for some of the biggest brands in their industries.
Through a long process of learning, I’ve taught myself the rights and wrongs of drawing floral motifs. It’s the field of illustration I’ve spent the most time studying and practising. I’ve actually become so proficient at it that I’m now teaching artists, such as yourself.
The demand for botanical art sky-rocketed in the last few years. Being able to constantly grow and pass my knowledge onto others enabled me to find out exactly what it takes to master floral illustration.

Over the course of my professional career, I’ve realized over and over again that the saying “practice makes perfect” couldn’t be more true. Imagine learning to swim … in your living room. Once you hit the water, you’d probably drown within minutes.
And since painting of any kind demands certain training of your muscle memory to master the various painting techniques, one thing is more than obvious: more practice equals faster improvement. There’s also no better way to really grasp the theory and put your newly-found knowledge to use than actually drawing.
That’s why I structured the course in a way that every lesson contains a follow-along exercise. This way you’ll be able to practice while getting all the knowledge you need. And hey, in the end, you’ll end up with quite a few art pieces that you’ll be able to showcase in your portfolio.
Before creating this course, I ran an extensive survey. I asked over 1000 digital art students to list the biggest pain points they experienced when trying other botanical art digital courses out there.
“The lecturer is speaking too fast,” “the course is not structured enough,” “just talking and no practice,” “too many similar exercises,” were some of the most common answers.
I did my best to structure the course in a way that it would cover everything you need while avoiding the most common setbacks you would experience following other courses.
If you’re like me, you find it extremely overwhelming when the instructor rushes, leaving you feeling lost and frustrated. In my course, the narration is calm and slow-paced, allowing you to follow without hitting the pause button after every sentence. However, should you feel the need to use some extra time, you can pause the video or replay the checkpoint as you please.

Getting models that work with Procreate out of the box is quite tricky as the feature is so new. As demonstrated in the video below, the UV mapping of the models you can buy and download on the 3D model libraries online is not configured to be Procreate compatible in most cases. You'll sometimes encounter difficulties such as incomplete color fills, messy lines etc. while using any of the Procreate painting tools.
5 Models are included in the course, and on the checkout you have an option to add 25 Botanical & Decor 3D models for free to your order. These models are specially optimized for seamless use in Procreate, so you'll be able to paint models that will look as realistic as possible. Commercial license is included, so you can use the model freely in any commercial projects, too. See model previews below.
As soon as you enroll in the Masterclass, you get lifetime access to the six FREE bonuses. Use them to speed-up your learning process or gain inspiration for your future Procreate work.
Once you enroll, you immediately gain access to a set of 17 custom painting brushes that I made and regularly use for my work.
