Recently, I’ve seen a huge spike in marker brushes popularity and your questionnaire results back it all up.
I’m constantly running questionnaires where I ask my students which courses or brushes they’d like to see me create next. And one really stood out from the rest - Marker brushes.
I don’t know for sure why the sudden spike in popularity, but the ever-growing anime, interior design or fashion design craze might have something to do with it!
And to be honest … I’m kind of ashamed I didn’t think of that earlier! But this is why I have the best students out there whose ideas and opinions help me stay relevant! So of course, I listened.
After the last few months of painful trial and error, I’ve created my first Procreate marker brush set, the Better Marker Brush Set! And I’m so proud to finally present it!
The thing about real physical markers is that they’re humongous drama queens. Although they’re super useful for all kinds of illustration, sometimes the bad outweighs the good.
They dry out super quickly and they become useless once they do. So there’s no other way but to buy new ones. And the better markers you want, the more you’ll pay. Over and over again.
Furthermore, blending is a pain in the *** (please forgive my language). If you try to shade just a smidge too intensely, you can dark out the area or tear the paper due to over-applying.
This is why it took me so long to create the set. A lot of the real physical strokes that I’ve been sampling went bad before I could scan them or I tore the paper and had to start over … or I just lost my nerve trying to capture “perfect” strokes and failing.
However, after some time I’ve gotten a hang of it and I managed to complete the set. There are 12 Dry Markers, 23 Wet Markers, 12 Calligraphy Markers, 48 Marker Stamps and 11 Fine Paper Textures, totalling 106 elements of the Marker Brush set.
Since these are digital markers, there are no issues with drying out or tearing the paper. Once you get the set, you can use it for life as the markers won’t dry out. And if you somehow manage to tear your iPad’s screen due to overapplying … kudos to you! 🙈
Blend and shade just as you please. The subtle anime shading? Totally doable with no hassle. Product or fashion sketches? Easy. Interior design ideas? Piece of cake. (yum, cake)
And even if you somehow completely mess up your digital illustration … it’s still Procreate! Keep clicking that undo button until your mistakes are gone and try again.
Markers are one of the most versatile mediums that are commonly used in various fields of illustration. As said above, they’re super common in sketching, product illustration, fashion illustration, interior illustration, Japanese anime-style illustration and more.
Once you get the brush set, you’ll have a chance to add a fashion mini-course to your purchase (which is normally hidden from my homepage).
It’s a 2.5-hour mini-course with a practical exercise split to 5 instructional lessons. You’ll learn how to download the files, get a short introduction to the brush set and paint 5 fashion motifs using various brushes to really get the idea of what they’re all about.
After you learn how to paint the skin, hair and makeup, shirt and pants, coat, and some fashion accessories, you’ll master the set and you’ll be able to get the most out of the brushes without my help!
Of course! The brush set files are yours forever - you'll always be able to access them using your login information and you can also store them locally on your hard drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
Just to be clear, those are digital assets! The files are in .brushset format. You will be able to download the files after your purchase and you can use them with an iPad App - Procreate.
Sadly no, the brushes are in .brushset file format specifically designed for Procreate App for iPad to be used with Apple Pencil. They are fine-tuned for Apple Pen pressure sensitivity. If you use a different stylus than Apple Pencil on your iPad, the results may vary.
The brushes also cannot be used in any desktop software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
Digital assets like custom brushes are time-consuming to produce and a lot of work is put into sampling, configuring, and fine-tuning a brush set of 100+ brushes.
They are used by a variety of users from hobby artists to freelancers and also bigger companies and agencies. We want to make the brushes accessible for everyone while also allowing an affordable licensing option for artists that want to use the brushes to produce commercial artworks.
The Standard License included in the base price covers personal use cases in non-commercial end projects and posts on up to two personal social media accounts. That means it allows unlimited use for any kind of artwork (digital or printed) and you can also freely display that artwork digitally (on your social media or galleries) or physically (exhibitions,...).
On the other hand, if you want to use the brushes to produce unlimited physical or digital end products or artworks intended for sale, you should purchase a Commercial license add-on.
Commercial license also covers posting on unlimited personal and business social accounts, display on digital paid advertisements with unlimited impressions, and commercial use in native apps or web apps.
To be clear - A commercial license does not permit the re-sale of the actual brush set file pack.
Yes, you will receive an e-mail with login information to access your downloads minutes after your payment is processed.
