Hello and welcome to this Carnation Tutorial. We'll be using the premium brushes from my Freya Oil Paint Brush Set! Please download the tutorial files before we begin. You'll get the sketch, palette swatches and tutorial PDF for this project. Once you're ready, feel free to pause and play the video as needed.
Step 1: Begin by sketching out the composition using the Freya Oil Dry Brush 1.
Then add the paper texture background in a light grey color using Freya Oil Canvas No. 1. In another layer, you can start adding some of the base colors using Freya Oil Old Brush No. 8.
Step 2: Using Freya Oil Wet No. 3, add and blend the pink colors for the petals on a separate layer. Use a dark green color to add some outlines within the petal folds. You can either keep the layers on alpha lock or add layers as clipping mask to make coloring layers easier and quicker.
Step 3: Continue layering the colors to add depth and blend with the Freya Oil Blender No. 3 for a softer look.
Step 4: Add the final details using the Freya Oil Dry No. 4. Use Freya Stamp No. 6 for the background accent and layer on Freya Oil Topcoat No. 5!
Congrats! You've just completed a floral illustration using my Freya Oil Paint Brush Set! Please don't forget to tag me in your finished work! I'd love to see it!
