Hello! Today we'll be working on a Lotus flower painting using premium brushes from the Effortless Flower Brush Set. Before we begin, kindly download the tutorial PDF and the swatch palette for this tutorial.
To recreate this flower, we are going to use three brushes from the Effortless Brush Set. Namely, Petal 3, Pollen 2, and Pollen 11. Make sure that your Dynamic Scaling is turned on when you're using this brush set, you can find this under Actions > Preferences.
Step 1: Let's start with a 3000 x 3000-pixel canvas at 300 DPI. Then go to Actions > Enable Drawing Guide > Edit Drawing Guide > Choose Symmetry > Options > Radial. Make sure that Assisted Drawing and Rotational Symmetry are DISABLED. Then set the primary and secondary colors. Remember, after setting the primary and secondary colors for these dual brushes, remember to tap the primary color again, so that Procreate uses that as the active color. Now use Petal No. 3 to draw five petals moving toward the center. Adding pressure in the middle to create a larger shape and decreasing the pressure will create the taper.
Step 2: Add smaller folds around the top of the petals using the same brush. After that, set the layer to Alpha Lock and lightly add a light yellow color in the middle using the Petal Light brush.
Step 3: Add a new layer and continue overlapping smaller petals using the same method, until you have 4 layers of petals. Once you're happy with how your Lotus looks, you can merge all the layers.
Step 4: For the pollen, add a layer on top of the petal layer, and use Pollen No. 11 first. Create a circle and then top it with Pollen No. 2 in the middle. Now add a layer below the petals for the lotus leaf. For this use Petal No. 21 and draw in a clockwise direction.
And there you have it! You've just completed this tutorial using the Effortless Flower Brush Set! You can also make this lotus flower in a different shade too, to add variety. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Please share your work and tag me if you post it on social media. I would love to see your version.
