Apple Oil Paint Procreate Tutorial (Free Brushes)

Download the files here

Thank you for your interest in this Procreate Oil Tutorial. We'll be using the sampler brushes from the Freya Oil Brush Set. Before we begin, download all the tutorial files to your Files App. Please make sure that you're on your iPad when you do this.

Tap on the zip file and it will create an unzipped folder. You'll find the tutorial PDF, sketch, free brushes, and the swatch palette. Tapping on the brush file and swatch palette should automatically import them into Procreate. Save the sketch by tapping on the file, and tapping on the send button on the top bar. Choose Save Image.

Let's begin!

Step 1: Sketch out the composition using a 6B or a peppermint brush. Lower the opacity of the layer, rename it as sketch and lock it. Now swipe a layer of Freya Oil Canvas No. 3 in a light grey color. On another layer, start adding the base colors using Freya Oil Dry No. 2. Ideally have a separate layer for each area so it'll be easier to clip layers later.

Step 2: Slowly add gradient colors to the top half of your apple using Freya Oil Wet on Wet No. 4 and Freya Oil Blender No. 2 Add a bit of light green and yellow highlights on top.

Step 3: Use a clipping mask to add details and texture to your layers, using the Freya Oil Dry No. 2 and Freya Oil Old Brush No. 2.

Step 4: Color in the flowers using Freya Oil Wet No. 4. Then add the final details by using Freya Oil Wet No. 4 and Freya Oil Old Brush No. 2. For the seeds and flower details, add depth by adding highlights. Use the Freya Oil Tip No. 1.
