Rabbit and Cherry Blossom Watercolor Tutorial for Procreate!

Download the files here

Hello ₍ᐢ. ̫ .ᐢ₎

In today's tutorial we are going to make a Rabbit and Cherry Blossom Illustration using premium brushes from the Ultimate Watercolor Brush Set and a free Rabbit Template Brush. Please download the tutorial files first, it will include a tutorial PDF, a swatch palette, and the free template brush.

We'll start by creating a 3000 x 3000-pixel canvas. Add a layer and rename it as "texture" layer. This should be on top of all the layers so that the texture will apply to the entire canvas. Set the color to a light grey color and use the Freya Paper Texture all over the texture layer. Set the layer to Multiply and then lock it.

Step 1:  Add a new layer, rename it as template. Set the color to a light brown color and then use the Wild Rabbit 1 template brush to set our template in place. Alternatively, you can also sketch out the composition using the Peppermint or 6B brush. Once you're done, lower the opacity and lock this layer. Now add two new layers, rename as "base rabbit" and "flowers". Then start coloring the base colors using Wet on Wet No. 4 brush from the Ultimate Watercolor Brush Set.

Step 2: Add another layer on top of the rabbit base and set it as a clipping mask. Now you can start layering more colors using the Wet on Wet No. 7 brush and Wet on Dry No. 5. And because the layer is clipped, your brush strokes will stay within the bounds of the base layer.

Step 3: At this point you can turn off the template layer and continue adding details like the fur using the Wet on Dry 5 brush, moving with an upward stroke. Add darker shades of pink in the middle of the flowers to add depth and petal folds.

Step 4: Add the branch using Freya Dry on Dry No.5. You can also add Freya Brush Stamp No. 30 for a bit of embellishment. And now you've completed this short and sweet tutorial using the brushes from the Ultimate Watercolor Brush Set. I hope you had fun! 😍 Please share your finished project online and tag me. I'd love to see your version. 🐇
