Today we'll be working on a Rose Watercolor Tutorial using the premium brushes from my Ultimate Watercolor Brush Set for Procreate. Please download the sketch, palette swatch and tutorial PDF before we get started.

First, sketch out the composition using the Peppermint or 6B brush. Once you're done, lower the opacity and lock this layer.

Step 1: Now add a paper background using Freya Paper Texture No. 4 in a light grey color. Set the layer to Linear Burn and lock this layer. This layer should be on top of all the succeeding layers so that its texture will apply to the entire artwork. Add another layer, set it as a clipping mask, and start coloring the base using Freya Wet on Wet No. 3. Lighter shades to the outer areas, darker shades in between petals and under folds.

Step 2: Add a clipping mask layer and using Freya Wet on Dry No. 4 brush, continue adding more emphasis in between petals to add depth.

Step 3: Add another layer and using Freya Wet on Dry No. 4 brush, continue adding more emphasis in between petals to add depth. Line some of he petal edges using a pinkish red color. Don't be afraid of the intensity, as this acts our shadow and will give your rose it's structure. For the leaf, use Freya Wet on Dry No. 6 and firs create a curved line. Then draw the leaf shape by applying pressure outward.

Step 4: Add the finishing touches on the rose center by using Freya Wet on Dry No. 17. As you add pressure, the brush will dilute the color. So move your strokes in a circular motion as you do this. For the leaf veins, add a clipping mask and use Freya Wet on Dry No. 6 in a light green color.
