Download the files here

Thank you for your interest in this Christmas Tutorial! We'll be using the premium brushes from the Ultimate Watercolor Brushset! Please download the tutorial files before we begin. Please make sure that you're on your iPad when you do this.

Once you've downloaded it to your iPad, tap on the zip file and it will create an unzipped folder. You'll find the tutorial PDF, sketch, and the swatch palette. Tapping on the swatch palette should automatically import it into Procreate. Save the sketch by tapping on the file, and tapping on the send button on the top bar. Choose Save Image.

Ready? Let's draw!

Step 1:
Let's begin with the Freya Paper Texture No. 2. Swipe it on the first layer in a light grey color and then lock this layer. For all succeeding layers, set it to Linear Burn so that it will pick up the paper texture details.

On another layer, draw a solid circle. On top of that, create a clipping mask layer and color it in using the Freya Wet on Wet No. 8 brush. This will be your background accent. Then begin sketching out the rest of the composition using a 6B or Peppermint Brush.

Then on another layer, begin adding the base colors using the Freya Wet on Dry No. 5 brush.

Step 2: On a new layer, start blending and layering colors using the Freya Wet on Wet No. 3, Freya Dry on Wet No. 4 and Freya Wet on Dry No. 4. Use clipping mask to help you color within boundaries.

Step 3: Now, add that distinct watercolor effect using the Freya Wet on Dry No. 17 Water Tank. Use the Freya Wet on Dry no. 6 to add details to the leaves.

Step 4: And now, add the finishing touches using Freya Stamp Brush No. 17 and 27, and Freya Tip Brush No. 7. Add branches and leaf details using Freya Dry on Dry No. 6.

Great work! You've just completed this illustration using my Freya Ultimate Watercolor Brushes! You can continue to customize this with monograms or brush lettering. Print it as an artwork or card, or send it virtually to greet friends and family this coming Christmas! 😊🎄

xoxo,
Freya
