Lemon Blueberry Better Marker Tutorial for Procreate

Download the files here

Hello! Welcome to another Better Marker Tutorial! Today we'll be using the premium brushes from the Better Marker Brush set. Please download the tutorial files first. You'll get the Tutorial PDF, palette swatch and sketch file for this project! Enjoy!

Let's begin by creating a sketch of our composition using 6B or Peppermint Brush. Lower the opacity of this layer and lock it.

Step 1: Create a new layer and fill it with Freya Fine Paper No. 6 in a light grey color. Change the color mode to LB or Linear Burn. Then lock this layer. Keep this layer on top of all the succeeding layers so that the texture will apply to the rest of the art. On a new layer, start filling out the base color of the composition using Freya Wet Marker No. 18. Create a different layer for each element so that it'll be easier to edit later on if you decide to tweak colors.

Step 2: On a different layer, build up the colors for the blueberries using Freya Dry Marker No. 1 and Freya Wet Marker No. 18 for the cake. Remember to add white areas to serve as highlights.

Step 3: Now let's add some details. For the leaf garnish, use Freya Dry Marker No. 4 and create soft outward strokes. For the lemon, create the pattern using Freya Dry Marker No. 1. Add texture to the box using Freya Wet Marker No. 3. Gradually fade the strokes outward. It should be a bit darker on areas that overlap or where corners meet.

Step 4: Add highlights using Freya Calligraphy Marker No. 10. You can also add more details and texture using Freya Dry Marker No. 5 and Freya Dry Marker No. 7 for the background, although this is optional.

Congratulations! You've just completed this blueberry lemon cake tutorial! Please don't forget to tag me if you post your work on Instagram! I'd love to see your version!
